Top 5 Ways To Avoid Getting Fat Over Christmas!
1.Wait before you have seconds!
When presented with a wide range of yummy foods it’s easy to finish your first serve and then dig straight back in for seconds… The problem is that it takes a little while for the message to go from your stomach to your brain telling it that it’s full. So here’s what you’re going to do – after you’ve finished your first serve wait a minimum of 10 minutes before deciding if you want seconds. More than likely you won’t be hungry anymore.
2.Don’t drink your calories!
Most of you will have a few alcoholic drinks over the holidays and that’s cool. Try and avoid all of the other ones that tend to pop up in front of you at this time of the year though. Things like soft drink, cordial, juice, hot chocolate, milkshakes etc… You see all of the above contain high amounts of sugar which A) is not good for you B) will add to your calorie count drastically and C) won’t fill you up so you’ll be back in the fridge hungry in no time. Instead drink……. WATER!!!!
3.Move daily!
You should be doing something physical every day of your life – period! Whether it’s a full on bootcamp session or a stroll through the park – get your butt into gear and get moving!!
Here’s a little workout you can do that only takes 5 minutes if you get stuck for ideas J
4.Eat before the party!
It might sound silly but generally at a BBQ or party there are going to be loads of unhealthy foods right? So if you eat something healthy before you go your blood sugar levels will be nice and stable and you won’t crave those high sugar or high fat foods that are on offer so much. Even if you do you won’t eat as much anyway J
A high protein snack before you go to the party would be perfect here.
5.Revisit your goals daily!
We will act in accordance with what occupies our mind so occupy your mind with why you’re doing what you’re doing and what you’re trying to achieve. Think about this – if you’ve just revisited your goals and you’re thinking about the 5 kg’s you want to lose by the end of January are you more or less likely to be tempted by the treats that are floating around?
Get your goals up on the fridge so every time you’re tempted to eat or drink more you at least think twice J
Obviously you’re going to enjoy yourself at this time of the year and that’s cool just remember that there’ll be a point in time to get back into the swing of things. Some of you will be great at that while some of you are still trying to get back into the swing after last Christmas…..
