How to Change Your Life!
So you want to change?
Sometimes you might just have some big event happen in your life which compels you to take massive action and make a big change. Most times however it’s up to us to manufacture it!
The good news is that there is a simple formula you can use to our advantage when trying to change something in your life.
So what is it?
(d x V) + F > R
Dissatisfaction x Vision + First Steps need to be greater than the resistance.
So how can we use this to our advantage?
Let’s start with dissatisfaction. Increasing this will speed up the process of change. So to increase it you need to be 100% clear on exactly WHY you want to change. Say for example you want to lose weight… WHY? What is the real reason?
Try this…. Grab a piece of paper and don’t stop writing until you come up with AT LEAST 20 reasons why YOU MUST lose the weight (or whatever you’re looking to change).
Next is the vision. So we now know what you are dissatisfied with but what do you really want?
What would happen if you got in the car and started driving but didn’t know where you were going? Most likely you’d end up right back where you started!
So it’s incredibly important that you know exactly where you’re going so you can then figure out how to get there!!
That’s where the first steps come in… Think about it – if you’re not clear on exactly what you need to do are you likely to take action? Probably not…
So get help!
If it’s your health and you don’t know where to start I happen to know a really great personal trainer… ;-)
Once you have the first steps made nice and clear your belief grows. With belief that you can make it happen comes urgency and this is critical to overcoming the resistance!
Last but not least we need to reduce the resistance. You may not even need to depending on how well you went with the first three. If you do need to try this…
Write down exactly what it is that you’re worried about. Is it looking silly? Is it failing?
Once you write it down you’ll probably realise how silly it is!
Put it in a statement – eg: If I try and lose weight and fail I’ll look silly….
Then write an alternate point of view – eg: If I lose weight I’m going to feel fantastic and I might even be able to inspire others to do the same!
Now it’s up to you to decide which one you want to believe J
So now that you have the formula for change here’s what you do….
CHANGE!!!!!!
Dedicated to your fitness success,
